  • 1 block Firm or Extra-Firm Tofu Freezing and thawing improves texture.
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch Essential for crispiness.
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Use tamari for gluten-free.
  • 2 tbsp Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Adjust to taste.
For Cooking
  • 2 tbsp Oil Optional for frying.

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Begin by freezing firm or extra-firm tofu overnight, then thaw it completely to improve texture. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture and cut into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, and salt. Toss the tofu cubes in this mixture until fully coated.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F or oven to 400°F. Cook tofu in air fryer for 18–22 minutes or bake in the oven for 25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  4. Combine orange juice, soy sauce, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Toss golden, crispy tofu into the saucepan with the sauce and stir gently for 1–2 minutes until well coated.
  6. Serve on a platter and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds. Enjoy with jasmine rice or quinoa and vegetables.
