- In a small saucepan, combine ½ cup of water with ½ cup of granulated sugar and heat until it boils, stirring occasionally for about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Cut half a medium watermelon into cubes, place into a blender, and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp and seeds.
- In a large pitcher, pour in the strained watermelon juice, add the cooled simple syrup and the juice of 2-3 large lemons, then mix in 3 cups of cold water and stir gently.
- Cover the pitcher and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor.
- Serve the chilled watermelon lemonade over ice and garnish with a watermelon wedge if desired.
