Preparation Steps
- Begin by gently rinsing the butter lettuce leaves under cold water. Lay them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towel to dry.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Allow it to shimmer for about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the ground chicken, breaking it apart with a spatula. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until fully browned.
- Stir in 1 finely diced onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tablespoon of grated ginger. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Fold in 1 cup of chopped water chestnuts and 2 tablespoons each of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for about 2-3 minutes.
- Fold in most of the sliced green onions and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Spoon the warm chicken filling into each butter lettuce leaf. Garnish with reserved green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
