  • 2 tbsp Gochujang Paste Adjust for heat preference.

  • 1 tbsp Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Rice Wine Can substitute with apple cider vinegar.
  • 1 medium Grated Apple Any sweet apple will do.
  • 1 tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic Cloves Minced.
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
For the Sandwich
  • 1 cup Bell Peppers Sliced.
  • 4 slices Bread Thick slices of ciabatta or sourdough.
  • 2 tbsp Salted Butter Melted.
  • 1 cup Mature Cheddar Cheese Sliced.
  • 1 small Red Onion Sliced.
  • 1 tbsp Jalapenos Sliced, adjust to preference.
  • 2 tbsp Spring Onions (Scallions) Chopped.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds Optional garnish.
For the Garlic Mayo Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Steak - Place ribeye steak in the freezer for 30 minutes, then slice into thin strips.
  2. Step 2: Marinate the Steak - Whisk together soy sauce, gochujang, ginger, brown sugar, rice wine, garlic, black pepper, grated apple, and sesame oil. Add sliced steak to the marinade for 30 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Sauté the Steak - Heat a skillet over high heat, add oil, and cook marinated steak strips for 4-5 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Step 4: Cook the Peppers - In the same skillet, lower heat and sauté bell peppers for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  5. Step 5: Assemble the Sandwich - Brush bread with butter, layer with sautéed peppers, cooked steak, sesame seeds, cheddar cheese, red onion, jalapenos, and scallions.
  6. Step 6: Toast the Sandwich - Cook in a skillet or sandwich press for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and cheese is melted.
  7. Step 7: Make the Garlic Mayo - Mix mayonnaise, minced garlic, and sweet chili sauce until smooth.
