Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch metal loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- Peel and mash the 4 overripe bananas until they're smooth but with a few small lumps remaining.
- Cream together the 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup brown sugar using an electric mixer for 2 to 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add in the 2 large room-temperature eggs, mashed bananas, and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to the creamed mixture; mix on low speed until well combined.
- Sift together 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt; gently fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients.
- Fold in 3/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smooth the top, and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before removing it from the pan.

Notes
Wrap your banana bread tightly in plastic wrap when cooled to maintain moisture. It tastes even better on the second day!
