Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by placing your stone-ground Mexican chocolate in the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Remove the chocolate from the freezer and grate it using a medium holes cheese grater until you have about a cup of shavings.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine the grated chocolate with honey or maple syrup, maca powder (if using), vanilla extract, almond extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Pour in your milk of choice, filling the shaker halfway.
  4. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until well combined.
  5. Add ice cubes to the shaker and shake again for another 30 seconds to chill the drink.
  6. Pour the chilled mixture over a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or chocolate shavings.
