- Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks for 5-7 minutes until browned.
- Lower the heat to medium, add more olive oil if necessary, and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute.
- Pour the heavy cream into the skillet and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the Parmesan cheese gradually and stir until melted and smooth.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the tortellini for 3-4 minutes, adding the broccoli florets in the last 2-3 minutes. Drain the tortellini and broccoli.
- Add the drained tortellini and broccoli to the skillet with the sauce and sausage. Toss gently to coat.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan and black pepper.
