Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease the cups.
- In a small bowl, combine ½ cup of all-purpose flour, ¼ cup of brown sugar, and cubed cold butter. Add ground cinnamon and mix until crumbly. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Toss in chocolate chips.
- In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, large eggs, whole milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined; the batter should remain lumpy.
- Spoon the batter into prepared muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full. Sprinkle the crumb mixture on top.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
