Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, sour cream, and melted butter and beat until creamy. Add eggs one at a time.
  3. Fold in the mashed ripe bananas and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the banana mixture, stirring until just blended.
  5. Gently fold in walnuts if using.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While baking, make the brown butter frosting by melting butter until golden brown and whisking in powdered sugar and milk.
  8. Spread frosting over warm brownies and let cool in the pan.
  9. Slice into squares once completely cooled.
