Step-by-Step Instructions for Vegan Orange Chicken
  1. Prepare tofu by pressing and draining the extra-firm tofu to eliminate excess moisture. Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Coat the tofu by mixing cornstarch, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Toss tofu cubes until evenly coated.
  3. Cook the tofu by frying it in a non-stick pan with heated oil for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden-brown or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 minutes.
  4. Make the sauce by combining fresh orange juice, sugar, and soy sauce in a saucepan. Heat over medium-low until mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Combine by transferring the cooked tofu to a bowl and pouring the orange sauce over it. Toss gently to coat the tofu in sauce.
  6. Serve the Vegan Orange Chicken over steamed rice or your favorite grain, optionally garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
