Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large pot, combine chopped broccoli, chicken stock, water, smashed garlic, kosher salt, and black pepper. Stir to mix, then bring to a boil over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes.
  2. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and blend with a potato masher or immersion blender to desired texture.
  4. Cook orzo or ditalini in a separate pot according to package instructions.
  5. Drain pasta and return blended soup to low heat, adding nutmeg if desired. Adjust seasoning.
  6. Ladle into bowls, top with parmesan cheese, and drizzle with olive oil.
