Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Candied Yams
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather your ingredients.
  2. In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, orange juice, bourbon, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and salt. Bring to boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Peel and slice yams into ½-inch rounds.
  4. Grease a 13"x9" baking dish with butter. Layer yam slices overlapping.
  5. Pour the warm syrup over the yam layers. Cover with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake covered for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 50-60 minutes, basting every 15 minutes.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
